Engineer-to-Order

Engineer-to-order (ETO) is a production process delivering a customized product that is built as a deliverable of a project. ]po[ provides implementations of most engineer-to-order process steps and several process variants.

We assume that Design-to-order (DTO) is a synonym of Engineer-to-order (ETO).

Process Flow Support

Most of the process flow steps above are supported by ]project-open[ in detail, suitable for organization from 30 to about 3000 employees.

Processes not Supported

The following processes are in general not supported by ]project-open[:

• BOM: There is currently no bill of materials management
• Value appreciation (accounting): ]po[ does not support double-entry accounting. However, it can be used as an input system for various accounting packages, including SAP.
  

The following process are also not suitable for ]po[ in general:

• Buy-to-order (BTO)
  
• Make-to-order (MTO)
  
• Assemble-to-order (ATO)
• Make-to-stock (MTS)
  
• Ship-to-stock (STS)
